Twice each year, eclipse seasons invite us into a period of transition. While astrology often associates eclipses with significant life events or turning points, Psychological Astrology offers a different perspective.

Rather than asking "What will happen?", it invites us to ask, "What is seeking to emerge within me?".

Eclipses illuminate what has been hidden. They bring unconscious patterns into

awareness and invite us to engage more consciously with our own psychological development.

As we move through the Leo Aquarius eclipse, we are invited to explore one of the central themes of the human journey: the relationship between our individuality and our need to belong.

Aquarius: Where Do I Truly Belong?

Aquarius is often associated with the collective, friendships, community, humanitarian ideals and the vision of a better future. It reminds us that we are not isolated individuals but part of a larger whole.

Yet psychologically, Aquarius asks a much deeper question:

Where do I truly belong?

Many of us spend our lives searching for belonging through acceptance. We adapt to the expectations of our families, our workplaces, our relationships or society because we fear rejection. We learn which parts of ourselves are welcomed and which parts feel safer to hide.

In doing so, we may gain acceptance but lose touch with our authentic nature.

True belonging cannot be created through conformity. It begins when we have the courage to recognise and honour who we truly are.

This is where the Leo archetype enters the journey.

Leo: Who Am I Beyond the Roles I Play?

Leo is often reduced to ideas of confidence, creativity or the desire to be seen. From a Jungian perspective, however, Leo symbolises something much more profound: the emergence of an authentic centre of identity.

It asks us:

Who am I when I stop performing?

Who am I when I no longer seek validation, approval or recognition?

Throughout life, we naturally develop identities that help us navigate the world. We become the responsible one, the achiever, the caretaker, the peacemaker, or the one who always appears strong. These roles often serve an important purpose, but over time they can become masks that conceal our deeper nature.

Psychological growth does not ask us to reject these roles. Rather, it invites us to become conscious of them, so that they no longer define who we are.

The Leo archetype encourages us to reconnect with the spontaneous, creative and authentic Self that exists beneath the expectations we have placed upon ourselves.

Leo Aquarius Eclipse Axis: Individuality and Belonging

It can be tempting to see Leo and Aquarius as opposites. One speaks of individuality; the other of the collective. One turns inward towards the heart, while the other looks outward towards humanity.

Yet they are not in conflict.

They are two parts of the same developmental process.

The more deeply we know ourselves, the more genuinely we can contribute to the lives of others. Likewise, our participation in the collective becomes more meaningful when it arises from authenticity rather than from the need to fit in.

Belonging is not achieved by becoming someone else.

It arises naturally when we have the courage to be ourselves.

A Jungian Perspective: The Process of Individuation

Carl Jung described the lifelong journey of psychological development as individuation—the gradual process of becoming who we truly are.

Individuation is not about becoming perfect. It is not about eliminating our fears or our flaws.

It is about becoming more conscious.

As we become aware of the unconscious patterns that shape our lives, we begin to make choices that are aligned with our authentic nature rather than with inherited expectations or unconscious conditioning.

The Leo–Aquarius eclipse axis beautifully reflects this process.

Leo asks us to discover our authentic identity.

Aquarius asks us to discover where that authentic identity belongs within the greater whole.

Together, they remind us that our uniqueness is not something to hide or defend. It is our contribution to the collective.

Questions for Reflection During Eclipse Season

Rather than looking to eclipse season for predictions, we might approach it as an invitation to self-enquiry.

You may like to spend some time reflecting on the following questions:

  • Where do I feel most authentically myself?

  • In what areas of my life am I seeking approval instead of expressing my truth?

  • What roles or identities have I outgrown?

  • Where have I confused fitting in with belonging?

  • How can I honour my uniqueness while remaining connected to others?

The purpose of these questions is not to find immediate answers.

Their purpose is to open a dialogue with yourself.

Often, transformation begins not when we know what to do, but when we become willing to ask deeper questions.

Working with the Eclipse in Your Birth Chart

Although the Leo–Aquarius eclipse axis represents universal psychological themes, each person experiences it differently.

The areas of life activated depend on your unique birth chart. The houses involved, the planets being contacted, and the personal themes emerging all shape how this period may be experienced.

Rather than predicting events, Psychological Astrology helps us understand the meaning behind these symbolic activations. It invites us to work consciously with the opportunities for growth that each cycle presents.

Every eclipse season becomes another chapter in the ongoing story of becoming more fully ourselves.

A Final Reflection

Perhaps the greatest gift of the Leo–Aquarius eclipse axis is the reminder that we do not have to choose between individuality and belonging.

We belong because we are authentic—not because we conform.

When we have the courage to express who we truly are, our uniqueness becomes a meaningful contribution to the world around us.

So as this eclipse season unfolds, rather than asking:

"What is going to happen to me?"

You might instead ask:

"Who am I becoming?"
